We are committed to rehabilitation, hospitality and innovation—it’s been our legacy for nearly 60 years. Our mission is to equip those who have sustained injuries or disabling conditions with the tools necessary so that they can resume activities that give their lives meaning. Even those with the most complex challenges can lead independent lives if they have access to world-class rehabilitation, state-of-the-art equipment and great clinicians.
The Benedictine Sisters in Yankon, South Dakota, established Madonna, a Catholic Hospital, in 1958. Their commitment to hospitality has created an environment that is warm and welcoming to all. Through the years Madonna’s programs and services have evolved to meet the needs of an expanding area. Today it is one of the largest freestanding rehabilitation hospitals in the country. In the past five years, Madonna has served patients from 45 states and every county in Nebraska.
Madonna provides a full continuum of rehabilitative care specializing in spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, stroke, pulmonary, neurological and other serious conditions. Our dedicated pediatric program enables us to care for both adults and children with these conditions. Our rehabilitation programs use a holistic approach to care. We seek to heal not only the body, but the mind and spirit as well. We work with patient families to understand each individual’s personal history, unique interests and spiritual connections. This personal information is woven into a patient’s individualized therapy program. Madonna’s Institute for Rehabilitation Science and Engineering has advanced technology so that it can be integrated into the therapy process. Through investments in groundbreaking technology, exceptional talent and progressive treatments, our patients have the best opportunity to regain their abilities and return home to their families, their communities and their work.
By combining the most compassionate patient care with the latest in research and treatment methods, Madonna is changing the face of rehabilitation. In October, our Omaha campus will open, allowing for an increasing number of individuals to receive individualized care. We are changing lives and showing people no matter what the level of disability, Now You Can.
