The keynote speaker is renowned opera singer Charity Tillemann-Dick who has performed extensively across Europe, Asia and the United States. She also is an organ transplant survivor. After being diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Hypertension, Charity underwent a double-lung transplant. When her body rejected the lungs, she was very fortunate to receive new donor lungs that her body accepted. She has resumed singing and is a national spokesperson for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, working to raise awareness and expand federal research funding.
The GOAL Awards recipients represent the nearly 6,000 patients Madonna serves annually. Photographs and stories of past winners are on display at Madonna as an inspiration to everyone.
