Madonna's Philosophy

At Madonna, we view every patient as an individual who has a unique personal history to share, special interests and relationships to nourish and spiritual connections from which to draw strength. All of these things are affected by illness, injury, aging or disability, and all must be addressed in the healing process in order to restore each patient to as full and independent a lifestyle as possible. In everything we do at Madonna, we work to help the mind, body and spirit heal together... and heal one another. This approach goes beyond traditional therapy and helps nurture within patients the most critical element of recovery: hope.

Madonna's Approach

At Madonna, our approach is simple. We strive to help people to do the things they want to do, whether it's taking care of their family, going to work, or simply playing ball with the kids. The people who come to Madonna range from those with significant injuries or illness to those who merely want to do things like golf without pain. Madonna's continuum of rehabilitation helps people achieve success, whatever their goal. Combining the latest technologies and research with a unique interdisciplinary team approach, Madonna involves the patient and family, the referring physician, the rehabilitation physician and the complete team of rehabilitation professionals in each step of the recovery process.

Madonna's Comprehensive Continuum of Care

Using the latest rehabilitative technologies, our experienced staff provides the most progressive, innovative treatment methods possible. Whether the condition is permanent or temporary, Madonna provides a complete range of services and care for patients of all ages in the following areas:

Madonna's medical staff includes physiatrists (physicians with expertise in physical medicine and rehabilitation), pediatricians, pulmonologists, wound physicians, and internal medicine specialists to coordinate the patient's care with the patient's lifestyle needs and goals. Furthermore, many Madonna programs are accredited by CARF—the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission. Madonna is the only rehabilitation hospital in the region to offer CARF-accredited brain injury, spinal cord injury, and pediatrics programs for both inpatient and outpatient levels of care.

Our state-of-the-art facility features a 5,000 square foot therapy gymnasium, a warm-water, in-ground pool, a convenient and high quality cafeteria and on-site family housing. Independence Square, our simulated community within the hospital, enables patients to integrate their therapy sessions into everyday situations.

Semiprivate and private rooms, spacious treatment areas, and lounges for family gatherings all contribute to a warm and comfortable rehabilitation experience.

Outside, lush landscaping, courtyards, sculpture gardens and walking paths define Madonna's 22-acre campus.

Patients of all faiths can worship and meditate in the James E. Ryan Memorial Chapel, which was designed to serve people of all abilities.

Rehabilitation does not always end when a patient is discharged. Nor does it always begin with a stay in the hospital. As part of our continuum of care, Madonna offers the same expertise on an outpatient basis:

Rehabilitation Day Program helps patients recovering from a physical and/or cognitive disability learn to function more independently in their home and community. The program provides an intense, holistically oriented outpatient approach to rehabilitation, including medical monitoring, therapeutic interventions and education and support for the primary caregivers.

TherapyPlus enables patients to get back in the game of life with a complete range of outpatient services. TherapyPlus offers convenient locations in Lincoln, plus flexible hours and Madonna's expert treatment and care.
