Acute Rehabilitation Inpatient Outcomes

These outcomes are compared with national acute rehabilitation benchmarks compiled by the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association (AMRPA) database called erehabdata. The outcomes described below are for patients discharged from Madonna's Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012.

Average Age of People Served:

  • 41 years old.

Discharge Home:

  • Most people (68.8%) were able to return to a community setting after their inpatient rehabilitation stay. More individuals with BI are able to discharge to a community setting than from other rehabilitation hospitals in the region and nation.

  • 24 individuals with brain injury transferred to acute care hospitals, 15 for planned procedures.

Patient Satisfaction:

  • 92.4% of patients rated their experience as Excellent or Good. 100% agreed they would recommend Madonna’s Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program to their family or friends.

Gain Maintained 6-12 Months Post Discharge:

  • 95.9% gained or maintained function
  • 80% returned to work or school, National Avg. 12-70%
  • 68.1% resumed driving

Rehospitalization 6-12 Months Post Discharge:
