Who We Serve

Madonna's Pulmonary Program is primarily located on the Long Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH) although a significant number of people with pulmonary conditions are also served in the Ventilator Assistance Unit (VAU).

Some patients with a brain injury or spinal cord injury are also served by the Pulmonary Program, as many of those individuals are admitted with tracheostomy tubes or on ventilators, and spend the first part of their program weaning.

Geographic Area: A majority of patients served are referred from Lincoln hospitals, and live within the state. During its most recent fiscal year, ending June 30, 2011, Madonna served 29 individuals from four different states, with most out-of-state admissions coming from Iowa, Kansas and Missouri.

Volumes: During its most recent fiscal year, Madonna served a total of 181 inpatients on LTACH with pulmonary diagnoses, including 101 patients who were ventilator dependent.
