Inpatient Outcomes: The outcomes described below are for all inpatients who were 18 years or younger, all diagnoses, discharged from the Alexis Verzal Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011.
- On average, the adolescents and children we serve meet 72% of their goals.
- At discharge, most children and adolescents needed someone to supervise them when caring for themselves, walking or getting around in a wheelchair.
- It is common for adolescents and children who discharge from an inpatient rehabilitation hospital to continue to receive therapy services as an outpatient.
- Last year, most adolescents and children (87%) were able to return home.
- Patient/Family Satisfaction: 100% of inpatients or their family members rated their overall care at Madonna as "Excellent" or "Good."
Outpatient Outcomes: The outcomes described below are outcomes for outpatients 18 years or younger with varied diagnoses discharged between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011.
- Last year, most adolescents and children were able to take care of themselves, communicate and either walk or use a wheelchair with some supervision. Some required adaptive equipment to help them be independent.
- Patient/Family Satisfaction: 94% of outpatients or their family members rated their overall care at Madonna as "Excellent" or "Good.”
- Many adolescents and children who have had a disabling injury or illness require therapy on an intermittent basis.
- Information from a telephone survey done 6-12 months after their adolescent or child was discharged from MRH revealed 97% of children and adolescents returned to work or school.
