Wound Program: Outcomes

During the fiscal year July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007, Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital discharged a total of 60 patients from the Wound Program. Additional patients were served in the Ventilator Assist/Special Needs Unit (VAU/SN) level of care.

Several standard measurements are used to assess the outcomes of persons served.

Outcomes: There are no national benchmarks for Wound Programs on an LTACH level of care. The outcomes described below are for all patients with a primary diagnosis of skin disorders discharged between July 1, 2006 and June 30, 2007.

In addition to the FIM scale, Madonna uses a tool called the Pressure Ulcer Scale for Healing (PUSH) to assess program outcomes regarding wound healing. For its most recent fiscal year, 90% of patients served in the Wound Program experienced a positive change using this scale.

Satisfaction: 80% of patients served rated their overall experience at Madonna as "Excellent" or "Good".
