Madonna's Wound Program is primarily located on the Long Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH)although a significant number of wound patients are also served in the Special Needs Unit (VAU/SN)
Ages: The average age of wound patients is 58 years old.
Conditions: Patients admitted to the Wound Program are those with chronic or slow-healing wounds. Many of these individuals have other health conditions in addition to their wound, such as diabetes or peripheral vascular disease that make healing more complicated.
Geographic Area: A majority of patients served are referred from Lincoln hospitals, and live within the state. Madonna also served a small number of patients from Kansas and Missouri.
Volumes: During its most recent fiscal year ending June 30, 2007 Madonna served a total of 60 inpatients on LTACH with wounds.
