Supported by a team of researchers, Madonna ProActive seeks to advance how individuals achieve balance of the mind, body and spirit. This team extends beyond the walls of ProActive into the Institute for Rehabilitation Science and Engineering at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital. The Institute includes the Clinical Informatics Center of Excellence, the Communication Center of Excellence and the Movement Sciences Center of Excellence. The Clinical Informatics Center analyzes large quantities of information to identify patterns that will lead to improved health. The Communication Center focuses on collaborative research related to assistive technology, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), telehealth, and motor speech disorders. The Movement Sciences Center is creating safer exercise experiences for people of all physical abilities so that everyone can enjoy the social, physical and emotional benefits associated with exercise. The ProActive Wellness Center focuses on understanding the relationships between an individual's readiness to change and various wellness interventions (behavior change efforts). The ultimate goal is to assist with long-term changes in behavior.
