Nutrition: Make smart choices every day

Nutrition Services

The best way to give your body the balance it needs is to eat a variety of nutrient-packed foods every day. A healthy eating plan is one that:

- Emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains and fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products.
- Includes lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs and nuts.
- Is low in saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, salt (sodium) and added sugars.

The good news is that it is within your power to find a balance that provides good nutrition for your body. A good place to start is by asking Bethany Fulmer, ProActive's registered dietitian to help you understand the nutrients that make up a balanced diet and why they're so important.

You have several opportunities to learn about balanced nutrition at ProActive. Group education or healthy cooking classes are offered monthly. Additionally, two nutrition information classes are offered per month -- one in the morning and one in the evening. These classes will provide nutrition knowledge and beginner basics to help keep you on the right track for weight loss, fitness and to support your exercise plan. These Nutrition Counts classes are free to members.

To participate, stop by or call the Front Desk. Specific meeting days and times are listed in The Source, ProActive's monthly newsletter, or you can learn more by asking at the Front Desk.

Nutrition Classes and Services are listed under Nutrition Programs.
