The Rehabilitation Engineering Center of Excellence, located within the Institute for Rehabilitation Science and Engineering, is committed to improving the independence and quality of life of persons with and without disabilities through device design and development in collaboration with healthcare professionals. The ability to create custom, novel devices in a timely manner for both patients and research team sets Madonna apart from many healthcare facilities.

About the Rehabilitation Engineering Center

The Rehabilitation Engineering Center (REC) opened up in January of 2016 to counter the need for custom devices in the rehabilitation setting. With the help of state-of-the-art equipment and software, the REC team investigates special needs of Madonna’s patients and families to delivers life changing devices with little turnaround time.

Mission

The Rehabilitation Engineering Center is dedicated to improving the independence and quality of life of persons with and without disabilities through the development of custom and novel devices in order to maximize full participation in life activities. Our work supports the mission of the Institute for Rehabilitation Science and Engineering as well as the mission of Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital.

  1. Improvement of patients, families, and caregivers quality of life by providing devices custom to their special needs.
