Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital provides skilled aquatic therapy to inpatients and outpatients at Main Campus as well as TherapyPlus ProActive outpatients at ProActive Health and Fitness.
Aquatic exercise in a warm water pool may benefit children and adults with orthopedic conditions such as arthritis, back pain, fibromyalgia, sports injuries and muscle or joint strains or sprains. Many patients with brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, or other neurological conditions also benefit from this treatment. Aquatics therapy may also be an essential part of a child or adolescent's rehabilitation program. In addition to the comfort the warm water provides, patients with these conditions often find it easier to move and exercise due to the buoyancy of the water as well as relaxation.
On Madonna Therapy Plus Main Campus during its fiscal year ending June 30, 2008, the aquatic therapy staff treated a total of 245 inpatients and outpatients, providing 3,520 visits.
