Background: Madonna's Adolescent & Children's Rehabilitation Program is designed to meet the needs of individuals 18 years or younger with a variety of diagnoses. The Program serves both inpatients and outpatients.
Ages: 83% of inpatients served in the Adolescent & Children's Rehabilitation Program were between the ages of 7 and 18, with the remaining 17% 6 years old or younger. On an outpatient side, as the graph shows, Madonna served kids with a wide variety of ages.
Diagnoses: 54% of all children and adolescents served on an inpatient basis had a primary diagnosis of brain injury, while 11% had orthopedic injuries, 11% spinal cord injury, 9% stroke and 9% other diagnoses. The population served on an outpatient basis includes children and adolescents with brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, orthopedic injuries, developmental delay, sensory disorders, learning disabilities and other neurological illnesses.
Geographic Area: Madonna serves people from a wide region of the Midwest. Although a majority of inpatient patients live in Nebraska, last year we served a number of children and adolescents from Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota and South Dakota.
Volumes: During its most recent fiscal year ending June 30, 2007 Madonna served a total of 35 inpatients who were ages 18 years or younger. All of the inpatients were served on the Acute Rehabilitation Hospital (AR).
On an outpatient basis, a total of 204 new patients were served. Of these 7 were served in the Rehabilitation Day Program, and the remaining kids were served at TherapyPlus Main Campus location.
