Madonna medical staff assists in the recovery of our patients and families during the rehabilitation process. The patient’s primary care and referring physician are involved in the treatment plan to ensure a smooth transition back to the community. Each patient at Madonna has an attending physician who is supported by transdisciplinary treatment teams and more than 300 consulting physicians representing the full spectrum of medical specialties.
Samantha Bohl, OD – Optometrist
Dr. Bohl earned her doctor of optometry degree from the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio, Texas, and completed a residency in Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation through the State University of New York College of Optometry.
Matthew Driewer, MD – Hospitalist
Dr. Driewer earned his medical degree from the UNMC College of Medicine, and completed his residency training at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Dr. Driewer has been practicing medicine for more than 10 years as an internal medicine physician and hospitalist. Dr. Driewer is board-certified in internal medicine.
Jeffrey Jarrett, MD – Pulmonary Program Medical Director
Dr. Jarrett earned his medical degree from the UNMC College of Medicine and his completed a fellowship in Pulmonary disease and Critical Care medicine at Creighton University. He is board-certified in internal medicine as well as pulmonary and critical care medicine.
Adam T. Kafka, MD – Medical Director, Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital-Lincoln
Dr. Kafka earned his medical degree from the UNMC College of Medicine. After an internship in internal medicine at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, he completed a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency program at the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Kafka is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Paul Krabbenhoft, MD – Physiatrist and Spinal Cord Injury Program Medical Director
Dr. Krabbenhoft earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed his medical residency at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinic. He is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, and in the subspecialty of spinal cord injury medicine. He is a member of the American Medical Association and the National Spinal Cord Injury Association.
Morgan LaHolt, MD – Physiatrist and Brain Injury Program Medical Director
Dr. LaHolt earned his medical degree from the UNMC College of Medicine. After an internship in Family Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, he completed a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency program at the University of Missouri, serving as chief resident during his final year. He is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, and in the subspecialty of Brain Injury Medicine. He is also board-certified by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners.
Eva Lopez, MD – Hospitalist
Dr. Lopez earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and completed an internal medicine internship and residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Department of Medicine in Oklahoma City. She is board certified in internal medicine.
Mohsen Abou Seif, MD – Hospitalist
Dr. Abou Seif earned his medical degree at Ain Shams University, and completed his residency training at Creighton University in Omaha. He is board-certified in family medicine.
Jackie Tran, MD – Physiatrist
Dr. Tran is a graduate of Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and completed a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Rutgers/Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation. She specializes in non-surgical management of nerve, muscle, bone, movement and pain conditions. She is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, and is also a certified pre-employment medical examiner for the Department of Transportation.
Julie Lyon, MD – Senior Medical Director, Madonna Rehabilitation Specialty Hospital-Lincoln
Dr. Lyon earned her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine and completed her residency at Inland Empire Hospital Services Association in Spokane, Washington. She is board certified in internal medicine
Christopher Anderson, DO – Physiatrist
Dr. Anderson earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree at the University of Health Science College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri, and completed his physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago - Northwestern University. He is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, and in the subspecialty of Brain Injury Medicine.
Samuel Bierner, MD – Physiatrist and Medical Director, Acute Rehabilitation
Dr. Bierner graduated with his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School and earned his master’s degree in rehabilitation medicine at the University of Washington Graduate School. Dr. Bierner completed his physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at the University of Washington and a fellowship in clinical neurology at the Human Motor Control Branch, National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. He has served as the UT Southwestern Medical Center’s PM&R residency program director before becoming Chair of the UNMC Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, and in the subspecialties of pain medicine and neuromuscular medicine.
Jessica Fernandes, MD – Hospitalist
Dr. Fernandes earned her medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine. She also completed her residency at Creighton, where she served as Chief Resident. Her interests are in cardiac care and management. In her spare time, Dr. Fernandes volunteers for the Creighton Magis Clinic and Habitat for Humanity. She is board-certified in internal medicine.
Tanner C. Gates, OD – Optometrist
Dr. Gates received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He completed his residency in Vision Therapy/Rehabilitative Optometry in Bethesda, MD through Southern College of Optometry and then completed his fellowship in Vision Development/Rehabilitation. Dr. Gates specializes in rehabilitative vision care of patients who have suffered stroke or brain injury.
Ruthri Goodwin, MD – Hospitalist
Dr. Goodwin earned her medical degree from the UNMC College of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. She is board certified in internal medicine. Prior to joining Madonna, Dr. Goodwin served in hospitalist roles at OrthoNebraska, CHI Lakeside, CHI Health Creighton Medical Center- Bergan Mercy and the Omaha VA. She also holds a faculty appointment as an associate professor of medicine at UNMC.
Susan Ohnoutka, MD – Hospitalist and Medical Director, Madonna Rehabilitation Specialty Hospital-Omaha
A graduate of Nebraska College of Medicine, Dr. Ohnoutka completed her residency at the UNMC College of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Ohnoutka’s interests are in chronic care management and complex medical rehabilitation. She is board-certified in internal medicine. Prior to joining Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, Dr. Ohnoutka served as an acute care hospitalist for 11 years.
Donald Schmidt, MD – Hospitalist and Senior Medical Director, Madonna Rehabilitation Specialty Hospital-Omaha
Dr. Schmidt earned his medical degree from the UNMC College of Medicine and also completed his residency at UNMC. Previously, he worked as a hospitalist and as hospitalist program medical director before working for eleven years in private practice at Nebraska Internal Medicine. He is board-certified in internal medicine.
Joseph Snow, MD – Pediatric Hospitalist
Dr. Snow is board certified in pediatrics. After completing his doctor of Medicine degree at Creighton University in Omaha, he completed his pediatric residency at Creighton-Nebraska Universities, joint pediatric residency program and served as chief resident.
Sheilah Snyder, MD – Pediatric Hospitalist
Dr. Snyder is board certified in pediatrics. She completed her Doctor of Medicine Degree at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. She completed her residency at the Creighton-Nebraska Universities joint pediatric residency program and served as chief resident.
Sharon Stoolman, MD – Pediatric Hospitalist Program Medical Director
Dr. Stoolman is a pediatric hospitalist and is board certified in pediatrics. She completed her residency at Creighton-Nebraska Universities, joint pediatric residency program.
Sabin Bista, MD – Pulmonary Program Medical Director
Dr. Bista is a board certified pulmonologist. He received his medical degree from BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, and completed his residency in internal medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He also completed a fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine/Critical Care at UNMC College of Medicine.
