Rylee Robinson

Rylee Robinson
About Me / Why I participate in this event:

While riding her bike, Rylee was struck from behind by a distracted driver. Rylee was given a 16% chance of leaving Stormont Vail with any function at all. She sustained a severe traumatic brain injury, right below knee amputation and multiple other injuries. After 31 days, she was transferred to Madonna Alexis Verzal Children’s Hospital on a trach, a feeding tube, and unable to speak or comprehend. Rylee was challenged to her fullest by the amazing staff at Madonna who always "gave 125% to Rylee, never doubting her abilities for a minute". They challenged her daily to push to her limits. After around 7 months, Rylee was discharged to the outpatient day program where intensive therapy continued for another month or so. Rylee exceeded everyone goals and expectations by a long shot! Today, Rylee has graduated high school and continues in the 18-21 program. She works a couple hours a day at the Rescue Mission Boutique and plays Special Olympic and Unified Special Olympic basketball, soccer, softball and bowling. She continues with community-based Speech and Cognitive therapies. Without Madonna, her family feels that they would be nowhere close to where they are today and say that they are forever grateful to Madonna. Rylee's family says it is an honor and privilege to be Madonna Ambassador, to tell her story and help others surpass all their goals.
