Sidney Doane

Sidney Doane
About Me / Why I participate in this event:

On December 18, 2014, Sidney Doaneā€™s world literally spun out of control. Sidney was involved in a severe car accident on an icy road near Wichita, KS. In a coma, with a severe traumatic brain injury and neck fracture, doctors told Sidney's parents that if she survived, recovery could be possible but it would take a long, long time. Sidney was air transferred to Madonna on January 5, 2015, where she began the miracle of waking up and began the long road to recovery. After 6 months of inpatient therapy and 3 1/2 years of extensive outpatient therapy to rebuild her life, using every piece of equipment at Madonna, Sidney has learned to walk on her own, speak, swallow, type, drive and see again. Her family credits "the angels at Madonna" for helping Sidney be as successful as she has on this journey. In January, Sidney will start back at the University of Kansas graduate school, taking one class at a time, to complete her last semester as an Educational Specialist in School Psychology degree. Sidney is honored to share her story as a Madonna Ambassador and to raise funds to help other families receive their miracles at Madonna. "There is no place like Madonna!" she says.
