In sports, you learn practice makes perfect, and that’s the mindset 20-year-old Dalton Hazlett applied to his rehabilitation journey at Madonna. After sustaining a severe brain injury and multiple fractures from an ATV accident, the former three-sport athlete from Pilot Grove, Missouri, displayed his strong character. And just like on the football field, Dalton didn’t face this fight alone. His mom, his care team, and community cheered him on every step of the way.

When 45-year-old Johnny Renaud had a stroke in September, his family and friends made sure someone was with him at all times. His Madonna care team incorporated this support system directly into his therapy, with caregiver training nearly every single day. Today, we’d like to highlight high-intensity gait training, an evidence-based approach Madonna’s PT staff are using with patients to improve or restore their ability to walk. Mom’s nurturing spirit shines on other patients during brain injury recovery

Lynne Milimu is rarely seen without a smile on her face. Her care team at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals describes her as a ball of sunshine and a positive light. She spends hours in the cafeteria of the specialized brain injury unit chatting with other patients and cheering them on in therapy. But this is a transformation that didn’t happen overnight.. Lynne and her care team worked together to heal her mind and body after she sustained a brain injury as the result of a traumatic event on Mother’s Day.
