Caring for a loved one who has experienced a serious injury or illness can be very stressful. This work focuses on the use of therapeutic massage as a tool to help improve the well-being on caregivers of patients receiving intensive physical rehabilitation. The work initially focused on reducing stress and anxiety experienced by parents of children participating in intensive inpatient rehabilitation following a serious injury or illness. The research has now expanded to address the needs of caregivers of adults undergoing intensive physical rehabilitation.
