As a Kansas woman recovering from a stroke at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital prepares to go home, she knows her life will soon be much different.

But one thing that remains constant is her love of opera music.

"Music is ingrained in every cell of my body, I have been singing for the last fifty years," said Ann Snook, as she recovered at Madonna.

The University of Nebraska Opera put on a personal performance Tuesday for Ann Marie Snook.

The room was full of song, dance, clapping, and smiles.

Following the stroke, Ann Marie's vision is returning. She has to use a wheelchair, and her alertness is getting better, but Tuesday was a feel good moment for her.

She's been performing professionally in the opera community for decades and the love for music is what helped her come this far.

“Music is ingrained in every cell of my body,” she said. “I’ve been singing for the last 50 years."

Wednesday, Ann Marie returned to Topeka, after making remarkable progress at Madonna’s specialized stroke program in the last month.

Ann Marie added she plans to have opera back in her life again, and hopes it will happen in the next few months.
