Meet Renae Skrzypek, a devoted wife whose story of caregiving for her husband is truly inspiring.
When John Ketterman rolled his semi-truck in March 2023, he had no idea what his new life would look like. He came to Madonna’s specialized brain injury program for injured workers focused on re-learning skills necessary to be independent. His therapists also got creative and added fun recreational therapies to give him variety. Read about how John’s time at Madonna prepared him to return to some of his other life roles and favorite activities.
When Jules Gates sustained a spinal cord injury in a car accident, his main goal was regaining his independence. After about a month at Madonna and just before going home, he spent three days in our Transitional Living Apartments. Patients are allowed to live in the apartment, simulating real-life scenarios and while they have their Madonna care team close by, they are encouraged to try daily living tasks on their own. Watch the video to hear Jules’ first-hand experience and then follow the link to read more about the importance of this opportunity.
A serious car accident may have changed Creighton Mason-Schmidt’s life, but it didn’t slow him down. The 17-year-old from Kansas has embraced his new normal with a sense of humor and a lot of heart. Wearing his signature bright red shirt, he is showing everyone why he’s #CreightonStrong.
