Transitional Living Experience helps patients focus on independence

When Jules Gates sustained a spinal cord injury in a car accident, his main goal was regaining his independence. After about a month at Madonna and just before going home, he spent three days in our Transitional Living Apartments. Patients are allowed to live in the apartment, simulating real-life scenarios and while they have their Madonna care team close by, they are encouraged to try daily living tasks on their own. Independence Square helps helicopter crash survivor regain everyday skills

Zach Petersen is learning how to live life in a wheelchair after surviving a helicopter crash at a Music Festival in Arkansas in early June. The Fremont, Nebraska, man spent time recovering at Madonna's Omaha Campus from extensive injuries to his right leg and hip. Thanks to Madonna's Independence Square, he's regaining strength, confidence and the ability to get back to being a father for his two young boys.
