2016 Mettle of Honor Recipient-Jerry Wiemers
Jerry Wiemers, of Laurel, Nebraska, 57, was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome and arrived at Madonna Rehabilitation dependent on a ventilator and unable to move. In the months that followed, he started working to move his legs and arms and progressed to being able to walk out of the facility on his own. He now lives in an assisted-living apartment and continues outpatient therapy.
