“The 3D printer helped us print a dynamic extension splint as a concept to help patients regain some hand function and be more functional in their therapeutic activities in their therapy sessions. In working with Dr. Pheifer we were able to design components that may not be on the market due to the individualized needs of the patients to be the most functional or get the perfect fit with any kind of splint. Having these resources available at our fingertips every single day, day in and day out, really helps our patients to realize their full potential and meet their therapeutic goals. It really gives my heart a hug to help these patients get back to the things they feel are most important in their lives,” said Tabatha Sorenson, OTD, OTR/L, CAPS, CPAM, Madonna Rehabilitation Engineering Program leader.
