Cardiac Rehabilitation
We provide quality rehabilitation health care for cardiac patients who require an increased length of stay.
About CARES
Madonna’s cardiac program, known as CARES (Cardiac Advancement through Rehabilitation, Education, and Support), is an excellent option for individuals recovering from open heart surgery, heart attack (post-acute myocardial infarction), and other cardiac conditions. It provides a great alternative to nursing home care or going directly home.
Clinical Expertise
Individualized treatment programs are designed with guidelines established by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Madonna’s nurses and therapists also undergo extra training and competency testing specific to cardiac rehabilitation.
Cardiac Monitoring
Patients admitted to Madonna routinely have cardiac monitoring during therapy sessions as well as other activities.
Cardiac Education
Cardiac patients, families and caregivers receive individualized and group education sessions on these topics, which add to the rehabilitation experience: Cardiac disease, risk factors and preventions, cardiac medications, applying exercise to cardiac recovery, energy conservation, pain management, nutrition, stress management and coping strategies.
An Interdisciplinary Team Will guide the recovery Process
Madonna’s care team of highly trained experts across specialties offers the best experiences and outcomes for our pediatric patients and their families. This physician-led team includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, respiratory therapists, rehabilitation nurses, neuropsychologists, certified teachers and more.
