Helping You Navigate Post-COVID Recovery
Many individuals who have had a COVID-19 infection continue to experience or develop additional symptoms that persist for months or even years. The Madonna Research Institute has participated in several national and international research studies focused on post-COVID conditions. We use the latest research findings to educate the community and inform individualized treatment plans for patients across our model system of post-COVID care. This resource library houses educational content and resources to help individuals experiencing the lingering effects of a COVID-19 infection.

LONG COVID & PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
Long COVID can significantly impact a person’s ability to return to physical activity. One of the most common symptoms is post-exertional malaise (PEM), or symptoms that worsen following physical exertion. Many individuals experience exercise intolerance, finding it difficult to complete even simple activities like walking or stretching. This condition is more than being deconditioned following an illness, it may involve mitochondrial dysfunction, where muscles can’t efficiently use oxygen or produce energy. Some individuals experience orthostatic intolerance where standing or engaging in upright activities causes heart rate spikes, dizziness or fatigue. These short, informational videos and accompanying resources provide explanations of why these symptoms occur practical strategies for safely re-introducing movement and physical activity.
