More love from the communities we serve

June 15, 2020

Madonna has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of generosity from individuals, community groups and businesses showing their support during the time of COVID-19. Here are just a few of the latest ways our friends have been supporting our work:

Community seamstresses have been hard at work donating homemade cloth face coverings of every color and pattern imaginable. Cloth face coverings are used by our non-clinical staff and long term care patients. Talented recent donors include: Olivia Christenham, Cindy Done, Carol Glancy, Misti Jameson, Fina Koch, Lincoln Community Playhouse and Nebraska Wesleyan University costumers, Lincoln Quilters Guild, Judy Meisinger, Nebraska Healthcare Association (and sanitizer), Rabbits R Us 4-H Club, Dana Sedlacek, Mary Jo Tammen, Elizabeth Wood and 2Strings for Lincoln who also included headband ear savers.

Special thanks to Smithfield Foods for its donation of 3,000 face shields. Additionally, hand sanitizer – a precious commodity – was donated by Kidwell and PayLESS Office Supplies.

Our community ensured our staff stayed fed and felt loved, receiving cookies and floral bouquets from Russ’ Market and donuts from Hurts Donuts in honor of National Nurses Week in early May. Starbucks at 33rd and O streets in Lincoln provided coffee and pastries. VerbEnergy provided power bars to our teams, while Pi Theta Epsilon from the College of Saint Mary provided gift cards for pasta meals.

Belinda Craig and Olsson Associates each supplied encouraging posters for our healthcare workers and our patients to brighten their days.

Community support means everything as we tackle COVID-19 together. Thank you!
