We recently upgraded our therapy car to a new SUV, outfitted with a variety of modifications, including three lift options that are available to modify a patient’s personal vehicle.
The Smart Transfer (Milford seat) lift assists with transfers from a wheelchair to a vehicle. Using a comfortable sling, the hoist lift will lower a person into position in either the driver’s seat or front passenger seat.
The BraunAbility Turny Evo Seat is a swivel transfer seat lift for a car or SUV that extends completely outside of the vehicle. This seat makes getting in and out of vehicles safe and easy for anyone with limited mobility. It is fully powered to rotate, extend and move up and down. The seat reclines and also has power forward and backward, while operating using a one-button hand-held control.
The Armstrong Lift 4000 series is designed to lift and stow wheelchairs inside SUVs, minivans and other crossover vehicles. The side-mounted configuration maximizes cargo space and has convenient up and down controls for ease of use, requiring little effort to swing a wheelchair in and out of compact space.
The new technology in Lincoln’s Independence Square allows patients and their families to practice getting in and out of a vehicle safely and find what techniques work best for them.
