Madonna’s Lincoln Campus was a sea of red the Wednesday before Thanksgiving when 25 members of the Husker football team visited with patients and families. Senior wide receiver Stanley Morgan Jr. was among players who stopped by to give words of encouragement, high-fives and all around good cheer to patients. “It’s always great to give back to the community,” said Stanley.
“The Husker visit is something our patients and residents look forward to,” said Paul Dongilli, Jr., Ph.D., Madonna’s President and CEO. He added, “When we have visits like this, it introduces fun, provides inspiration and just brightens their day.”
Madonna’s hallways and the therapy gym were echoing with chants of “Go Big Red,” as players stopped to talk to patients about their recoveries, pose for selfies and sign autographs.
The visit was a highlight for Malik Paulson who loves football and was a stand-out defensive end at Washington High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The 18-year-old is recovering at the Lincoln Campus from an August diving accident that resulted in a paralyzing spinal cord injury.
