What is the greatest wish of most children who are recovering at Madonna? The answer is to return to their school and friends. Madonna’s Therapeutic Learning Center, also known as TLC, helps prepare children academically to overcome any limitation which prevents them from returning to school. TLC is offered to children free of charge and relies completely on donations to operate. You can help set-up a child for success in the classroom with your gift today.
The Research Institute is a living laboratory that develops technological solutions to aid in therapy and to return patients to their life roles. You can be a part of the next break-through in rehabilitation medicine. Donor support of the Research Institute helps fund equipment and pilot studies that lay the groundwork for major federal research grants.
Your support can help us fund even more life-changing technology like 3D printers being used to rapidly prototype and adapt equipment to support patients’ rehabilitation goals. Friends and donors at the 2021 Miracle Night for Madonna gala raised funds for 3D printing capabilities on both campuses.
Since 2018, generous donors at the annual Miracle Night for Madonna have also helped purchase:
Driving simulator technology to help patients regain their independence on the road
3 Alter G bionic leg that our clinical teams use for rehabilitation therapy including stair climbing, home entry and transfer training.
Innovative wheelchair technology like the Action Trackchair and the Omeo which helps patients take their mobility across a wide variety of terrains – places a typical wheelchair cannot go.
The reality of world-class rehabilitation is possible because of the generosity of friends like you. Annual support from our committed friends is essential to provide for the best possible outcomes for our patients. The Annual HOPE Appeal helps us to sustain the mission of the hospital by bridging the gap between what insurance reimbursement provides and the real cost of life-changing rehabilitation.
FIRST HOPE EQUIPMENT FUND
Sometimes a simple piece of equipment can mean a world of difference to a person recovering from a serious accident or injury. Friends like you create quality experiences for our patients needing mobility and communication equipment not covered by insurance.
The donor-supported First Hope Equipment Fund helps relieve barriers for children and adults with spinal cord injuries, brain trauma, stroke and other neurological conditions. Last year, donors like you helped us purchase basic communication technologies for children who can't speak and specialized shower chairs for adults with spinal cord injuries who cannot access their traditional home showers.
ST. BENEDICT FUND
Many people are just one accident or illness away from financial crisis. The St. Benedict Fund was established as an emergency fund to assist Madonna patients who need help to emerge from a crisis. Friends like you made a difference last year by helping 365 people. Your gifts provide immediate relief, assisting with the purchase of medical equipment not covered by insurance, transportation, utilities, rent, gas and very basic needs such as shoes, so a patient can participate in therapy.
CHAPLAIN OUTREACH AND CHAPEL SERVICES
Madonna’s chaplains and priests minister to patients through individual outreach and chapel services, especially important during the height of the pandemic when many patients were isolated from their families. In the last five years, our chaplains and priests have served patients representing 35 different faiths. Gifts to the Madonna chapel fund assist the Mission Services staff on both the Omaha and Lincoln campus to provide special programming and ongoing spiritual care along their rehabilitation journey.
Madonna's world-class reputation is only possible because of friends like you. Your continuing support is expanding Madonna's national footprint. Last year, Madonna served families from 29 states. In the last five years, Madonna has served patients from every county in Nebraska, more than 190 communities in western Iowa and 45 states across the nation. This national reach is a reality because donors like you have invested in our mission.
